Working with Ian has been transformative for me. He created a safe and welcoming atmosphere from the start where I felt comfortable and able to open up. His approach is compassionate, honest and dynamic, each session tailored to my needs and emotional energy on the day. As a result of his guidance and support I’ve managed to move through a range of issues and come out with a better understanding of myself which has impacted my life in a hugely positive way.

I worked with Ian for several months. His expertise on addiction processes and his skill at teaching and communicating these ideas was better than I could have hoped. Most importantly, I felt Ian was calm, respectful, present and kind. He does a beautiful job of creating and a safe and supportive space to reflect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ian to anyone who's interested in beginning to work on themselves.

After overcoming my own struggles with alcohol, I chose to become a specialist in helping others. I'm a therapist with a focus on alcohol, drug use, and other addictive behaviours.
Life can be challenging, often leaving us feeling overwhelmed with anxiety, low mood, or hopelessness. Many turn to alcohol as a way to cope, to take the edge off, maybe we're just drinking too much!
I offer in-person sessions in Hove and Lewes, East Sussex, as well as online consultations for those located outside the area or abroad. In our sessions, you’ll find a private, safe, and non-judgmental space to explore your feelings and experiences. If drinking is becoming a problem, you’re in the right place.
Whether you’re sober curious or deeply uncomfortable with your drinking habits, I’m here to help. If you’ve come from a treatment centre, it’s vital to understand your behaviours and the impact of alcohol, to facilitate change and keep that momentum going.
Many therapists say they can help but few have the genuine empathy of someone who has been there themselves, and the evidence based knowledge. When combined, we've a process that works to help you.

If you’re caught in a cycle of promising change to loved ones and then returning to old habits, we can work together to find a way out. In our sessions, we’ll have open conversations about your situation and collaboratively explore healthier coping strategies. We’ll address important questions like “Should I stop?” and delve into the feelings that arise.
With me you'll find a safe and welcoming therapy space to discuss these issues and find a way forward.

A 'whole' recovery, not just the drink, drug or behaviour.
I'm passionate about what I do, and I believe we should all have the freedom to live fully recovered lives. Free from fear. Able to cope with anxieties and able to process life's challenges. Because even when we fix the drink or drug problem, life will still happen.
What do you do now?
If you've decided you need to make a change then well done, it's a brave step. Please get in touch through a contact form. I'll reply the same day, so if you don't see my reply, check your spam/junk folder!

Some of my previous clients have been kind enough to leave testimonials, and a link to my 'Fees' page is here.

I'll use different evidence based therapeutic approaches during our time together depending on where you are in the change/recover process- you can find some more info on My approach to therapy page.
A little about me...
I no longer drink. That was a choice I made because of some of the consequences I was beginning to experience. I think it's important for you to know that, but it doesn't mean what's good for me is good for you- we're all different.
I won't be the one to tell you to stop, but talking your drinking through with me, a person who has genuinely been there, will be a very empowering experience for you. I never thought my drinking would get out of control, but it did.

I have a full Masters degree from London South Bank University, I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am an Advanced Practitioner with Addiction Professionals. I'm proud to be sober, and embrace diversity and inclusion.
